Snowy Monaro Regional Council is investing in the future of service delivery through improved planning, scheduling and resource management practices. This newly established leadership role will be responsible for developing integrated works programs, improving coordination across operational teams, and helping shape the systems, processes and planning capability that support the delivery of services across our region.

As Council continues to strengthen its planning and scheduling function, this role will play a key part in establishing the future operating model, building capability across the organisation and contributing to the development of a dedicated planning and scheduling team. This is a unique opportunity to influence how Council plans, prioritises and delivers work into the future.

About the Role: 

  • Works Planning: Oversee development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive program of works that incorporate all relevant work types and resources.
  • Scheduling & Prioritisation: Assess incoming job requests, determine urgency and impact, and develop a prioritised work schedule.
  • Team Management: Lead, support and supervise a team of planning and scheduling staff, allocating workloads, setting clear expectations, performance managing whilst building a collaborative and accountable environment.
  • Resource Coordination: Allocate appropriate personnel, equipment, and materials in collaboration with operational teams when scheduling jobs.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Act as the central coordination point, aligning planning and scheduling activities with Council’s Delivery and Operational Plans and Asset Management plans, and ensuring smooth handover of scheduled works to execution teams across various departments.
  • Performance Review & Continuous Improvement:
    • Monitor job completion rates and assess whether scheduled works achieved intended outcomes.
    • Gather feedback from execution teams to identify delays, challenges, or efficiencies.
    • Use performance insights to revise the forward works schedule, optimising future planning and resource use.
  • Data & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of scheduled works, track job progress, and report on performance metrics, ensuring accountability across teams.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and service providers to coordinate job scheduling and resource availability and resolve disputes around scheduling.
  • Process Development: Develop processes and systems to enable continuous business development and ensure needs are met for all relevant departments.
  • Process Efficiency: Identify opportunities for streamlining planning and scheduling processes to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all jobs adhere to workplace safety regulations, environmental standards, and local government requirements.

About You: 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in works coordination, job scheduling, or infrastructure service management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate interdepartmental teams and facilitate collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of building scheduling systems, maintenance practices, and asset lifecycle principles.
  • Proficiency in asset management and data analysis.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficiency in job scheduling software and digital workflow tools.
  • General Construction Induction (CIC - White Card) NSW
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and process efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Current Class C drivers licence

Desirable criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, project management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in local government
  • Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment, with a strong ability to adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with contract management
