About the Role:
- To provide administrative and secretarial assistance to the Manager Resource and Waste Services and to other areas of the department.
- To deliver outcomes with a focus on the provisions of effective and quality internal and external customer service
- To undertake the day-to-day service provision to ensure that Council’s policies and objectives are achieved
- Managing and maintaining data from Council’s landfills, weighbridge and transfer station sites
- Assist in the preparation of data collection and EPA License Reporting requirements
- Assist in the preparation of reports and taking of meeting minutes
- Provide comprehensive administrative support across customer service, data management and financial administration functions to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of Resource and Waste Services operations.
- Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity
- Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions
- Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and be accountable for own decisions and actions
About You:
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated computer skills and experience using Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and attention to detail, with ability to communicate clearly and practically with customers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
- Experience with Electronic Document Management Systems
- Excellent customer service philosophy and experience allowing the position to deal effectively with a diverse range of internal and external customers and situations
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Current Class C drivers’ licence
Desirable criteria:
- Certificate in Business Administration (TAFE) or comparable experience
- Certificate or training in sustainability, resource recovery or waste management
- Experience in waste education for households
- Current NSW Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain
- Experience working within Local Government
- Background in Finance or related financial experience
